CHUCK CANNON
Chuck’s songwriting career
Chuck grew up in the South Carolina Lowcountry. He is a Southern boy whose voice echoes the R&B, Rock & Roll, Gospel, and Country music he grew up listening to.
He is a multi-award winning songwriter who has been covered by an incredibly diverse array of mega-stars ranging from Pop artists such as Paul Carrack (Mike & The Mechanics, Squeeze and Ace) and Shawn Mullins to Country artists George Jones, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Wynonna Judd, George Strait and Toby Keith, to Euro-Pop super-group BoyZone and 80’s rock superstar band NightRanger, and Gospel’s Russ Taff and Bebe Winans.
Chuck’s numerous # 1 and top ten songs have logged over 25 million radio airplays and he has been the recipient of multiple BMI Million-Air awards. His song, “I Love The Way You Love Me,” won the Academy of Country Music Song of the Year.
His critically acclaimed solo music projects, GOD SHAPED HOLE, LOVE AND MONEY, and SYMPHONY OF SCARS reflect the depth of his art … the production is haunting with wide open spaces supporting songs that are quite simply, stunning. His spoken-word project, TRUE STORIES AND OTHER LIES: VOLUME ONE, is a collection of soul-deep stories that takes the listener on a breathtaking journey of laughter and tears through the life of an artist of The American South.
His 2017 CD, MACHINE, is a wild song ride down back-roads where houses still have tin roofs, screen doors & front porches and rivers run with memories of places we can’t go again - then along sad city streets where dreams are swallowed whole by the cold clanging contraptions of our own making. His wry socio-political commentary takes no sides, save that of common folk who work hard, laugh loud and know only one thing for sure; we are lost without love.
His live performances are riveting … no one interprets a song like the writer of the song and Chuck Cannon will leave you wanting more …
